Time Strategies

The article that I read was 'realistic study plan' by Amanda Collins (https://www.opencolleges.edu.au/blog/2020/08/11/build-a-realistic-study-plan/)in this she describes that the best way to time management is to be realistic on how many hours I'm going to be working on a specific module, to make a time table and see where my free hours are. In the timetable I will also need to include when I have other things such as days I have work or training to work around them. In the article she also says how an important part of time management is to set goals, for example on the time table or writing on a piece of paper saying finish blog by 3;00 start another module at 3:15 which will me determent to finish the blog so I can start another assignment. I also need to put what I need to do somewhere that I can see it so I don't forget.  I think the biggest time challenge will be  to try and stay on top of assignment I'm going to start writing down what assignments is due and the first one that is due do that one first.

This image shows how writing plans down is helpful and to tick off when finished

Being honest looking at the list I had to ask the question what is that
such as Diigo, however reading the description on them I seem to know a bit such as cropping and resizing images. After reading all the description the tool that drawn my attention to learn is the blogging as I feel the more blogs that I do the better I also think that reading other peoples blogs I will learn more about the person such as in their introduction post, it will also be interesting to see peoples different opinions and what modules they prefer. I also found the idea of graphic creation interesting as I would not know much about Unity 3d so I'm excited to see what that involves and how its works.

Learning online hasn't been the worst I've had no problems {so far,} however I feel once the group projects start it could become difficult for times and what to use to see each other. A positive is as everyone is online and hasn't seen each other I think more people will read peoples blogs to see how they have gotten on over the summer and dealt with the lockdown. Again with twitter I think a lot of people will be posting on Twitter to keep people informed on how they are doing and getting on with the modules

Class Task & Assignments

The topic that I'm most looking forward in this module is the blogging and seeing others peoples blogs as I feel that I'm able to expressive how I feel about the different topics that we will be given to write about, without feeling under pressure as I feel that if I had talk about it front of people I would be a lot more nervous. Apart from blogging I'm also forward to Unity 3D as even though I don't have the biggest interest in gaming however, I think learning how to do it will be challenging however interesting to see how they are made. I think getting feedback from fellow students will also be an impact to see where I could improve on my blog. The extra credit in my opinion is a good idea as if I find out that I'm finding something difficult I could make up the marks from the extra credit some of the topics include Wikipedia trails, tech tasks Growth mindset and some others, the one that I found the most appealing while reading the description was the growth mindset, after watching the video and seeing what it is about I think that it will have a benefit for me especially during exam season when things are due!

Growth Mindset

Video

From someone that I have never heard of before{ Carol Dewek} I fell that I have been taught a lot in 10 minute video The first thing that I have learnt from it is if I don't pass an exam I did not fail but just have not passed yet that if I keep on trying  I will pass. Th second thing I have learnt from the video is  that to pass I must  firstly see where the problem, and ask myself questions like why is it wrong? and how I can fix it?. This leads to  finding another way of fixing it if the first attempt did not work and learn from mistakes,  before the video I would of stressed and thought there was no other solution to the problem while now I see if there is another way to achieve it. I do see myself on spectrum of growth-fixed mindset as with any problem I try to find an answer and if that way does not work I try to find another way, not only with college but in work if something does not work or in a sport I try to be better and improve. It also showed in the video that students who has not been shown the growth mindset have a decline in their grades and work  to students that have been taught and shown.

Goals

My goals for this semester is to get good marks in the work that I produce. To have assignments submitted in on time when they are due. I also hope to bring what I have learnt from last year to this semester in this module and others.

This image is what comes up when type #growthmindset into twtiter.

Introduction about me

Introduction
My name is Niamh as most people will know now from last semester, I'm 20 and from Dunboyne. I have now started year 2 the same way that I had ended year 1, from a laptop at my desk at home, I thought everything would be back to normal by now.
Speaking of year 1 I have learnt a lot from how to use a camera, to making a website which I did not think I would be able to do. I also learnt how to use illustrator, brackets and photoshop. Illustrator and photoshop I found difficult to use which was my biggest challenge last year a something would be wrong and I wouldn't know how I went wrong or why it was wrong, which I could say about brackets too
My biggest accomplishment last year was passing everything.
In terms of year 2 I'm looking forward to learn topics such as gaming and make a game as I wouldn't have the biggest interest in gaming however after making one my opinion could change and I could love them.
I had a lot of plans over summer unfortunately I was unable to do any of them such as go abroad, however I still got to Wexford for a few days which was my holiday this year, I also went on a lot of walks as there wasn't much else to do but it gave me opportunity to see plays that I wouldn't of gone on a normal day some of these pictures are ones that I took while I was on the walks. The only good thing about lockdown was the weather at least was able to just sit out in the garden. In terms of work I didn't work during lockdown as I work in the shopping center, however I wasn't expecting to back until end of August and I was back working in June which was a good and bad thing good for something to do, routine and money bad as it's work and it was hard to get use to wearing the masks.
If you couldn't tell from me talking about it already walking is something that I try to do everyday after college or work I try to go on a walk somewhere I  going  and seeing new places , apart from walks I also have and interest in music and going to concerts and festivals when possible. I play Gaelic when I can when work doesn't get in the way. I also enjoy going to the cinema. If I had more time I would like to join a football team maybe, but with college starting back and with working weekends and evenings I don't think I would have the time, perhaps not even soccer but another sport that I haven't played before.
Another thing that I enjoy is going out for food, my favourite food is, well being honest there is a few pasta, pizza favourite pasta would have to be carbonara.
Career goals, the main one would be to hopefully get a degree and after that I haven't one specific idea of a job that I would like to work hopefully by the time that I'm finished the course and completing different modules I will know more.

Favourite Game

I wouldn't know much about gaming or be the biggest fan of gaming, which is why I'm looking forward to this module to learn about gaming. I played games when I was younger and a lot more than I do now I would of played on a tablet or iPad. Now I seem to have less time and a less interest in playing than I did, however when I do play one when I'm bored it would just be candy crush on my phone, as it is the easiest to access as I bring my phone with me wherever I go so while waiting for the bus or on the train and bored I would play it. The way that this game works is trying to get the same candies in a row beside each other so they are in a line  by swiping a candy left or right to change place with a candy that is not the same, as the game goes on it is the same as other games, it gets harder and harder the more the game goes on.

A Lot of games such now a days are played on an xbox, playstation or a laptop however I prefer to play them on my phone as I use it the most I try to get games on my phone that I can use while I'm out

Here is an image of the candy crush logo.
