Twitter Task week19(07)

Collage Tech Tip

I decided to make a collage of what lockdown looks like from the start until now. The first image is the first announcement that the first case has been found in Ireland, we then went into a level 5 lockdown until June and July which was level 3 where people went on staycations all over Ireland, all pubs were open, allowing only 6 to sit a table. Next was back to level 3 and now currently in level 5 again not allowed to leave your county. The last image is the recent protest that happened in town of people giving out about the restrictions.

Unity Tutorial 06

The first tutorial is about adding UI to the game. The first thing that I did was create a canvas. Next was adding a child component to the canvas and adding the UI heath frame to the Image object. The image was far too big and I had to resize it to fit the screen, when looking in preview and moving the screen the image is covered by using the anchor I changed it to the right position. Now when moving the Hierarchy the health does not get covered. Next was adding the image of Ruby to the Health, again adding a child to the health and resizing it, then adding the health bar and sizing it to fit the mask. Next was making a new script called UIhealthbar.

The second tutorial, it showed how to add text to Ruby. Before doing this I first had to add a new character to the game a frog called Jambi. I firstly had to slice the frog into 4x4 and turn into a game object. I then added the frog to a prefab. Next was adding code to the Ruby script and positioned ruby to be looking at the frog. I then added a Dialogue box and added text.
I lastly made a new script called non-player character and added script to it.

I enjoyed doing this tutorial as the game is finally starting to come together I'm looking forward to next week's to see the outcome. The images that I added are all screenshots from my laptop. To show the process throughout.

Twitter Task

Tech Task- Soundcloud

This song was played alot last year over summer, on peoples stories on instagram. It reminds me of the first lockdown and tiktok as it is where it became so popular

Unity tutorial 5

The first tutorial is about the camera. The first thing was to download a cinemachine. I found the next step difficult when adding the cinemachine to the scene I had to look up how to do this on youtube for some guidance, mine kept coming up that I needed to import files. I noticed that I have a different version than on the tutorial. Next ad adding ruby to the follow property from cvam1. I then had to add water to the scene so ruby wouldn't fall off. I had to go back to the previous tutorial to see how to do this. I then had to create an empty and call it a camera confined.  This next part was also a bit confusing and took me a few attempts to get it correct.

The next tutorial was about how to add particles to the game. The first thing I did was add a smoke effect to the game. The next few parts was adding the smoke component a child element of the robot and adding to the robot script so the smoke element could be added.

Reading 05

This week continuing on last week I had to organize the reading into specific sections, highlighting the same themes that are in each of them. While reading them I noticed the same themes coming up.  I started by looking at the definitions and how they all included the words rule, play, amusement. I put all of these topics in yellow.  I then looked at every time one said, player and highlighted that purple. The components of what makes a game came up in nearly every article all somehow linking together somehow using the same words. The main themes are gaming definition, how gaming can be digital and non-digital however they are classified as the same this links into gaming elements such as rules, players, competition. The next is players how a game could have one player or multiple. I found this task easy to do as it was just looking for common words within the articles and I think that it was helpful for when I have to start writing I will have a better idea of what to say. Here   is a link  to the google doc
